GENERAL KEY SYSTEM

USE

• The general key system (GKS) consists of the special structure of lock cylinders, which means that each lock can be opened using several various keys.
• This can be used to create a group of locks (at hotels, e.g. floors) and ensure that the keys from one set will not open another set of locks.
• This system – if correctly designed – substantially reduces the total number of keys and makes moving about buildings much easier. It can be applied practically everywhere today – the size of the building plays no role.

KEYS IN THE SYSTEM ARE CLASSIFIED BY SUPERIORITY INTO:

• general keys – which open all the cylinders in the set
• primary – always open a previously determined, variously large group of cylinders,
• individual – only open one specific cylinder. 

The system may include door lock cylinders, as well as additionally fitted locks, padlocks, furniture locks and safety box locks. All the cylinders used in the systems are fully compatible with all security hardware, locks and bars according to ČSN standards.

GKS SYSTEM

• You can use the GKS system to increase your building’s security
• all the systems use so-called protected keys, which means that you can only obtain a duplicate if very strict measures are met and on the basis of the authorised person’s signature specimen
• the manufactured keys are always registered by the supplier and information about the number of keys made can be obtained at any time
• use of a GKS will eliminate confusing bundles of keys
• you will have an absolutely precise idea of the people moving about the building
• you will be certain that only the authorised people have your keys

REQUIREMENTS

Carefully consider what access rights will be assigned to individual parties and which doors will be included in the system.

Following careful consideration, fill in the so-called locking plan, an example of which is included in this presentation and can also be sent to you by e-mail on request to make the process easier.

When filling in the form, you can arrange for an AACOM s.r.o. representative to be present who will be happy to help and will recommend the most suitable range of cylinders to execute the contract on the basis of his experience. The plan is filled in by marking, with a cross, the point at which the row with the name of the door and column of the key that is to unlock it intersect. This means that one key column will contain as many crosses as doors that the specific key is supposed to unlock.

When selecting the type of cylinder on the basis of which your GKS will be established, you must consider how the system will be used – whether you need only differentiation capabilities and comfortable control over all doors with just a single key, without any security requirements, or whether you also require security.

It is logical that locks of a more complex design can. be used to build more combinations and therefore make it easier to expand or modify the GKS in the future.
